Use Coconut Oil Instead of Butter to Make Cinnamon Toast
I miss cinnamon toast! But I haven't been eating it because I haven't been eating a lot of bread AND traditional cinnamon toast usually includes SUGAR (which is a no-no. Cancer loves sugar. This is my mantra to remember to stay away from refined sugar).
Anyway, my new favorite breakfast treat (other than green smoothies which I normally drink) is cinnamon toast made with COCONUT OIL!
I know it sounds weird, but stay with me. First, why would you want to add more coconut oil into your diet? (Many of you know I use coconut oil for everything now, see my healthy fudge recipe made with coconut oil and my makeup remover with coconut oil)
Coconut oil has LOTS of health benefits. It is a saturated fat but a healthy one. It has medium-chain fatty acids which have proved beneficial for health. I even saw an article recently that talked about coconut oil being studied for the prevention of Alzheimer's disease.
It can reduce cholesterol and prevent heart disease. It also contains Lauric acid which helps fend against microbes (Candida and more) and it increases energy.
Cinnamon is an anti-inflammatory and helps lower blood sugar, so this is a healthy treat.
How do you make it?
Take a piece of whole grain bread or gluten free bread, put it in the toaster.
Add 1 teaspoon of extra virgin organic coconut oil to the bread immediately and spread like you would butter.
Then add cinnamon and enjoy.
You don't need sugar with this one because the coconut oil gives it a natural sweetness. Try this and let me know if this becomes your new favorite breakfast treat!
